About The Delibero Society

Welcome to TheDelibero.com, the online home of The Delibero Society.

WHO WE ARE

The Delibero Society is a non-partisan organization advocating young professional engagement in the American political process.

OUR MISSION

The intent of The Delibero Society and TheDelibero.com is to foster deliberation about politics, policy, and culture to promote the constructive political engagement of young professionals.

WHY?

Young professionals are under-represented in the voting booth:

  • Only 26% of urban voters ages 18-29 voted in the 2006 midterm election, while 50% of urban voters 30+ voted. (CIRCLE)

Young professionals are turned off by the current state of American politics:

  • In 2008, over 50% of eligible voters age 18-24 did not vote in the presidential election. (U.S. Census Bureau)

Young professionals are increasingly non-partisan and therefore lack access to traditional means of political education and participation that local party organizations provide:

  • – Fully 50 percent of voters aged 18-29 now identify as independents. (John Opdycke)

WHAT WE DO
